Seeds to Plants
The foundational education component of the Organograph concept is the Seeds to Plants program. Inside of the actual sculpture, hundreds of special plants are arranged in a 40-foot diameter ring which rotates slowly inside of a glass dome. Each plant is independently raised and nurtured by students and educators in an incubating pot (a coco coir container with an organic growing medium, with a unique engraved History Tag). Each day one significant climate event is identified based on input from the Organograph’s climate monitoring systems and a corresponding plant is chosen to be planted at noon into the Time Trail Garden. Thereafter, that plant — permanently identified with its History Tag — documents the climate event of that day. Together these plants form a historical garden which tells the earth’s evolving history of climate change.
